  37. This converter enables PowerPoint 4.0 for the PowerPC to open files created by PowerPoint
  38. 8.0 for Windows 95. PowerPoint 8.0 (97) specific features are lost when these files are opened from PowerPoint 4.0. To view this list, see the compatibility section below.

  42. When the PowerPoint 98 for Macintosh Edition is available, this converter will also
  43. open those files.

  49. If you are opening large PowerPoint 8.0 for Windows files, it is recommended that you increase PowerPoint's suggested memory size to 8MB.

  52. Installation Instructions

  55. To install the converter, copy it to the PowerPoint folder on your computer.

  61. Before you double-click a PowerPoint 8.0 for Windows file, please make sure that you
  62. drag and drop the file onto the SetFile Tool. This will set the correct file and
  63. creator type for the file.

  70. Because the files are converted to PowerPoint 4.0 format, any special features of
  71. PowerPoint 8.0 (97) are lost. This includes the following:
  72.  
  73. Title master
  74. Preset shading
  75. Picture and textured backgrounds
  76. Animation settings on a per object basis
  77.  
  78. And more

  80. In most cases, features were translated as closely as possible using PowerPoint 8.0
  81. functionality.

  83. For maximum visual fidelity, users should save the presentation in 
  84. PowerPoint 4.0 format from within PowerPoint 97. To do this, click Save As 
  85. on the File menu, then choose "PowerPoint 95" in the Save as type box.
